Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Fortnightly throughout the year, Pōhutukawa and Miro Communities have enjoyed spending time together on a Friday as tuakana/teina buddy communities. During these times, the older and younger learners engage in different activities together and have formed special friendships. To celebrate a successful and enjoyable year, we would like to team up for our end of year celebration.
On Friday 9 December, we will be walking down to Kowhai Park, Warkworth. Kowhai Park is our local park and the park which Te Kura o Puhinui has adopted as part of the Auckland Council Adopt a Park Programme.
While at the park, the children will be engaged in different activities:
A bush walk with a park ranger to help erect weta motels
Stop, Drop and Observe activities
Mindfulness practices
Finally, we will enjoy an ice-block before heading back to school.
Students will need to bring:
Morning snack, morning tea and lunch as normal in their school bag
Closed shoes
Sun hat
Raincoat
A drink bottle
There are risks associated with involvement in any school EOTC events and these risks cannot be completely eliminated. However, the school has identified any foreseeable risks or hazards and implemented correct management procedures to eliminate or minimise those hazards. The children will be closely supervised and will understand their boundaries and rules before we leave school.
We do need parent helpers to supervise groups of children and help with the activities. As the park is in Warkworth town centre with parking available both at the park and close by, we are asking for parents to meet us at the park at 11:00am. We will be heading back to school at 1:00pm. We would love for as many of you as possible to come along.
